Crisis Intervention Center offers many opportunities to volunteer and help your community.
Volunteers are the foundation of the Center! Without them it would be impossible to provide our services. Volunteering for any of the programs at CIC has many rewards, including giving back to the community, building communication skills, increasing self-awareness.

Although CIC does not do all kinds of one-on-one counseling, we do offer individual counseling for people who have experienced the traumatic loss of a loved one, family member, friend, or acquaintance.
CIC offers local and state wide crisis response through prevention, intervention, and postvention services to those who are in need of emotional support. Through talk, text, or chat, we are available 24/7 to listen. The call center is manned by our highly trained paraprofessional crisis intervention specialists who have 24/7 access to our clinical staff for any questions or concerns.
A survivor of suicide is ANYONE who has lost a loved one to suicide or has been significantly impacted by the suicide death of another.
Individuals interested in participating in the SOS Group must arrange for an assessment by calling the Crisis Intervention Center at 225-924-1431.

The counselor can work with you to come up with a plan and can also make outcalls to your friend if you would like for that to happen. Yes. The Crisis Intervention Center offers a wide variety of educational and training opportunities to individuals and groups of all skill levels, from the basics of understanding suicide, crisis theory and stress management, to more advanced instruction for clinicians and other professionals. CIC has a clinical team made up of licensed mental health professionals. They insure all programs delivered by CIC are clinically sound and always follow best practices.
